This track is from Peter Greens "The Robert Johnson Songbook" album released in 1998. Peter sings, plays guitar and harp. He is backed by Nigel Watson (guitar), Neil Murray (bass) and Paul Rodgers (vocal). Note also Street Angels backup singers, giving to the blues the fine gospel feel. The slideshow is very simple: I just used one photo and two different crops of it to create the visual background. I hope it doesnt alter the subtle and fine blues feeling of this outstanding track.

  1. Yeah illegal drugs and alcohol. I’ve never seen anything good come from either of those poisons.

  2. Hey friend. Just want to say I watched a documentary about the "Peter Green Era" of Fleetwood Mac and they dealt with his "departure" from the group. I’m sorry but I can’t remember the name of it but in the documentary the general consensus seemed to be that Peter was suffering with early stage depression. At this time they went on tour in Germany and when they arrived a "group" approached the band and more specifically, Peter. They gave him LSD/Acid and he "never quite came back" apparently…

  3. Sorry, Rolling Stones’ version is far better than this one. No comparison is even remotely possible.

  4. Jeremy Spencer got religion in 1971. I saw him play with Fleetwood Mac in Seattle shortly before he left. Peter just sort of when crazy for a few decades. He needed meds and when he finally got them he made his comeback. My daughter and I were at Bumpershoot in Seattle. We were there to see Bonnie Raitt. In a small outside venue I heard this sweet blues…it was Peter and Splinter Group…glad his set ended otherwise I would have missed Bonnie.

  5. thank you, peter for cutting those 2" inch nails and coming back to us. those that loved you did not wait in vain. xOx The MedOusa xOx

  9. Just Beautiful. There is not a man out there for whom this song doesn’t bring a tear to the eye racalling some long lost little lady. God Bless you Mister Johnson & Green.

  10. Good version but I still prefer the Stones’. The way Keith plays it is simply amazing and his Hummingdird is literally singing.

  11. Pete’s alive and performed at Ashburton Blues Festival recently (Devon, UK)

  13. I love Peter Green and this version but the Stones with Mick Taylor set a standard that’s hard to match.

  15. Peter Green é um dos melhores intérpretes de Robert Johnson. Notem o lirismo e respeito de sua voz e violão.
