Shamrock, let me the first to welcome you to planet Earth. Since your here check out Muddy Waters and Johnny Winter. You will learn a lot about the slide guitar from these two guys.
I beg to differ on the point that Ry Cooder is the king of the slide. What about Rory Gallagher. Ry is the greatest slide player alive but Donegal’s favourite son was the main man.

Probably one of the best slide guitar pieces in history. It proves you don’t need a lot of notes to say what people feel.
well, the obvious lyric was; "The blues ain’t nothing but a good man feeling bad. Thinking about the woman he was once with."
true. but as long as that corner ain’t never looked at with no light shone on it then we’ll be just fine.
it’s funny seeing all your guys’ perception of the blues, they all fit perfectly, and i can see all your stories. But remember, you don’t get rid of the blues when you play/listen to it, you merely put it in a corner of the room.

Lots of towns… Lots of songs… Lots of women… Good times… Bad times… Only thing I wanted anyone to say is… ‘He could really play… He was good’.
Listen carefully and you can hear very subtle harmonics that sound like "chimes" in the background.
Listen harder, and you can my sorrows and regrets….
