The glass is really thick and the inside is just the right diameter for me – I like the slide to come down as far as the second joint on my pinkie and no further. Glass seems to provide a smoother sound than metal, and thicker slides definitely have more sustain than thin ones, but Duane Allman got his fattest sound from a lightweight Coricidin medicine bottle. 1. Where can w buy this nunwell slide for a great price ? great lesson…

  2. It is a Nunwell slide…used by popa Chubby..sold on his webpage !! great gear for slide a wonderful look !!!

  3. I think a bit of tone comes from using the fingers, instead of a pick also. That changes the attack. You really notice it if you record and listen to yourself.

  4. I just answered my own question, as I learned his riffs. The tone is mostly the use of the fingers, hitting the notes clear, sliding in the right places. My basic single tone is clean like a single coil, but when you hit two notes it blossums into some distortion, and judicious use of that two note overlaps controlled by the careful dampening is where the fat tone comes from. And love those darn, bluesy riffs David is teaching us.

  5. I love that tone. What sort of pickups are on that tele? Is that where the tone is coming from?

  6. and which one is the bad finger? because if you have one you need to practice more.

  7. dont you know that the slide goes on the BAD finger? the slide ALWAYS goes on the "bad" finger
