A little slide play between friends when Sonny Landreth invited Arlen Roth up on stage. Sonny is playing thru his Dumble and Arlen is playing my 1952 Telecaster thru a Dr. Z Z-28. This was recorded on 121 at The Towne Crier in Pawling, NY. ©2008 LiveFromMyLivingRoom

  1. This is my all time favorite. They are both awesome to say the least.

  2. I got to see Sonny in Bayshore, LI, this year. Awesome player. Great show.

  3. @1955jackie Did you see Sonny @ 3:52 to 4:08? I think they are both awesome.

  4. Absolutely magic. Thanks for posting this, I’d love to see either of these fellas play.

  5. omg that dumble sounds amazing! I believe that’s a Steel String Singer. Could be wrong.

    Can I have one?

  6. i dont get it, why haven’t i heard of these guys before?!

  7. Arlen can make his Tele sound like an old Chicago Harmonica. That’s what early bottleneck blues players were trying to emulate years ago.

  8. since when is the amount of music theory a guitarist knows a measure of his skill?

  9. nice place. good food. sonny plays there about once a year. you can sit in the bar and see the band through some windows and not have your hearing blown out.

  10. Opinions are like … everyone’s got one. Clapton was called god in ’67.A title that appauled him. He’s a blues player . His first 30 years were his best. When you get to be as good as any of these guys ,it’s not who’s better it’s just a matter of style. R

  11. If Clapton is God (?) what then is Arlen Roth?
Clapton is a pentatonic noodler all day long, Roth is much more.

  12. Look out now! Two tone meisters who can get around but play the righteous stuff! Lord, that’s good. So good! Listen to how sparse they keep it so that when they decide to make a statement it counts. Masters. Wee bit of a challenge from Arlen, answered ever so sweetly by the righteous Sonny.

  13. This took place at The Towne Crier Cafe in Pawling NY. Arlen is there again on April 11th.

  14. awesome slidestuff. leaves me speechless. i wonder where sessions like that take place.
