  1. How long have you tried? It takes weeks. Clamp on a G chord and work that thumb. Then a C and then a D. Then, add an index on the "and" beats and you will completely come unglued. Do it for another 2 or 3 weeks and you will be almost there – maybe 1 more year to go 🙂 Check out Jordanthecat and his lesson on Hello In There by John Prine. That is where I started.

  2. I’ve been watching some of your stuff, and it is really good, to me.
You are a kind of teacher that everybody would love to have.

  3. @BorderReiver73
similar story here, except I just met him november of 2011 and he’s still just as awesome

  4. Great to see this man. I met him 25 years ago after a gig, I was a shy 14 year old kid who was learning to play like him, and he was very charming and interested in what I was doing. A truly nice man 🙂

  5. Just started open tuning playing delta blues with slide this is cool you teach well

  6. You may get right hand pattern when he goes split screen. I think he is basic, using maybe 2 fingers & thumb. Should come easy enough.

  7. While I’ve been playing the guitar for years, I haven’t learned anything new for most of it, so this was certainly an enjoyable breath of fresh air. Thanks for posting this!

  8. I can tell you one thing he rarely uses anything but index and middle finger.

  9. Yeah, thanks a lot dude. I’m starting to play some open tunings now. And it’s going swimmingly. It helps that I already mastered the alternating thumb. Thanks for the lesson.
