Get this MP3 for free! music.ryd.me Ive redone the arrangement ever-so-slightly since first making this video… geez… like 4 years ago or so. I plan to re-record it, which is why I hadnt put the old video up. But Ive had a few people ask me for and about this video so, in the meantime, enjoy this old rendition until I finally have time to make a new version. 🙂 I love this song. After years of not being able to figure out how to do it justice, I finally just slapped an extra capo on the guitar and figured out an arrangement that would let me get both the distinctive synth intro and the oh-so-important bassline. And yes. I medleyed it. Im geeky like that. Fun fact: Ive received no fewer than 10 requests for people to use this arrangement in their weddings. If youre getting married, and want an acoustic version of this song for your nuptuals, drop me a line! If youre nearby, Ill even come play it for you! In retrospect, its a pretty damn romantic song, so I can understand why people want playing on the happiest day of their lives. Tab available here: mattryd.com

  1. You have a nice looking bedroom if that is where you are.

  2. Yeah I usually dont listen to covers, but I can appreciate this. Great job and song choice.

  3. Wow, this is a great cover of this song. I’m not usually a fan of covers but this is really well done. Great work!

  4. Saw Stevie last week, checked out this cover and my word I LOVE IT! Great work 🙂

  5. Oh! And I also worked out an arrangement of "Angus Dei" for a wedding I was asked to play a while back. They wanted an instrumental acoustic arrangement, so I used the cut capo to be able to play the melody and chord changes at the same time.

  6. My "Such Great Heights" video (which I think I reposted on the new channel) is another cut-capo rendition. I usually use it if there’s a lead line that I want to play, while also having the rhythm of an open chord (so, in this case, this was how I was able to play the synth line). And honestly, I just pick a good key to sing in, then start messing around–there’s no real rhyme, reason, or technique to it, just experimentation!

  7. I’m so sorry it took me so long to respond–this got buried in my comments inbox! Would you like a tab for this song? Someone requested one a while back, so I actually have the full thing tabbed out for the dual-capo arrangement.

  8. I searched high and low for this on the net and thought I’d try another search today for some reason… So glad you’ve posted up your old videos! Great arrangement. You’ve pretty much inspired me to order a cut-capo to learn this song and see if I can do the same kind of thing with some songs which I play! And I like the vocal range too, very similar to mine. Just generally pleased to see this back on YouTube!
