A trick I stole borrowed from Jamie Hince of The Kills Played in Open C tuning (Jamie plays in a different tuning but I found it easier to play a similar style with open tuning)

Yeah you’re right. Since making this video I’ve started using a bit more gain when I play this song. I had tried it with Fuzz but my fuzzgod2 pedal doesn’t really suit it vey well. A smooth fuzz like a BigMuff might sound better.

Nice! However I personally think your sound still isn’t dirty enough, which makes it sound too much modern for a Jamie Hince sound. Then again maybe it’s just the sound of your camera mic 🙂

@charky69tv – It’s a $500 Tele Squire but it plays very well. The song is easy once you learn the Jamie Hince trick, look up ‘The Kills – Last Day of Magic’ or ‘Baby Says’. My song is in a different tuning, ‘Open C’, but its easier that way (open D works too). You just need to keep your thumb banging away at the low string while your 1st or 2nd finger play basic melodies on the 2 highest strings.
