I been practicing some vocal lines with slide. First time I heard this song was the Allman Bros version, and it struck me as such a great progression with that soul,R&B, gospel thing. Aretha Franklin has that untouchable quality thats is unfathomably deep. Thats for watching this iPhone recording, wish I had a better recorder.
Nice bro, check out Otis Reddings version, it s better than hers
Wonderful!
Thanks Phil- It was a different perspective to do, but after practicing, I better understand the correlation that i didnt hear before. So i recommend practicing micro nuances of vocal changes for slide. This jam wasn’t how I wanted it turn out but it’ll work- I can say I am pleased with one small tid-bit! The lick at 1:36 was a total shock to me, because it caught me off guard, it actually matched the vocal and I wasn’t thinking about it- my hand just went
there- love when that happens!
Good job. This is a really hard thing to try, but you’ve made it work. Great tone as usual. Cheers, Phil
bought my first Aretha album right on the spot, when I heard you improvise on this… thanks man.
perfect match!!
