Great Blues and Gospel from the UK Some of the best Sister Rosetta ever captured on video. She plays some of my all time favorite guitar. Everybody is great in this show. Please, does anybody have this in better shape? I also hear that there is another segment with Rev. Gary Davis. I sure would like to see that! If you ask me, this is as pretty close to heaven as it gets for Blues and Gospel fans.

  1. it’s a modified gibson les paul SG before les made them take his name off it. one of the most iconic guitar shapes in the music industry

  2. same with me Tom!! I’m in love!! Gospel has been part of my life since childhood and HOW did I know so little about sister Tharpe??

  3. If you love this, I recommend the American Blues Festival series. There are some more jewels on it you will enjoy. I picked up mine on Amazon.

  4. First time I have seen wireless mics. That is how Muddy can walk up the tracks and sing at the same time. Same with Sister R when she arrives at the station.

  5. lovely…….you amuse yourself with these blax and the youess amuse themselves with kate and pippa

  6. Just sensational to think awsoemness like this happened in Manchester! Imagine that health & safety would have a heart attack if it were attempted these days!

    love it, love it

  7. even though this music is one of the best that may exist on the face of the earth, the distance between the crowd and the musicians, the railroad between them, it may be a symbol of the historical distance between their lives.

  8. thats true. cool thing about music is that things like that can happen. myself been white, music made by black people may be the best i have ever heard.

  9. i am always amazed at the quality of the fender guitars in 64 or 50s… they sound so cool and good

  10. Gary Davis should have been there – he was on the Blues & Gospel Caravan tour, and the tickets for the event included him – see mdmarchive dot co dot uk slash archive slash shownews dot php?nid=103. And the IMDB review suggests he was there. But what you’ve posted is the full Granada programme, so it seems Rev Davis missed the gig. He was great on the tour.

  11. I don’t think the performers had anything do with the set. The people putting on the show would have done that.

  12. Can the audience get this close to artists any more!? and the people actually clapping in time and on the beat.. this doesn’t happen any more either? This is great!

  13. The guy in the rocking chair…the billy goat!

Seems like these old black folks were trying to show those young white folks what life in the south was like. It’s a truly awesome piece of video. Youtube is amazing for things like this alone.

Muddy’s entrance out of the darkness from the tracks is one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

  14. Pure heart!
What else is there to say at face expression at 19:36:)
