Acoustic Blues Guitar Lessons with Jim Bruce. Includes complete blues guitar tabs. Blind Blakes ragtime guitar technique was fast and very accurate. Students wanting to learn to play the blues in this finger picking style have two hurdles to overcome. First of all, we need to create the tablature that accurately reflects his finger positions and movements, and also guess at some of the more obscure chord shapes. Secondly, when were happy with the representation, we need to train our fingers to play the piece at speed. Jims blues guitar lessons take care of both of these small obstacles. After spending many hours noting the smallest nuance in Blakes music, the resulting tablature is almost definitive. The slow-motion demonstrations featured throughout the lesson videos ensure a sure and enjoyable learning process. Learn how play the blues!
Thanks so much for the quick reply. That helps a lot!
Hi – thanks for the comment. General tips are , try to use the index finger only whenever possible, as it helps stability. When there is a note that follows another rapidly, use the index for the first and another finger for the second (if the index isn’t fast enough to do both!)
Many superb old blues guitar players used just one finger (Gary Davis, Blind Boy Fuller, Big Bill Broonzy, Floyd Council). Blake used two.
Hope that helps – Cheers
Jim
Great lesson! . . . Is there a rule of thumb (so to speak) for when you use your index finger and when you use your middle finger? I can’t discern any pattern. Thanks!

Soooo goood!!! Difficult to connnect the right hand with the left hand on TAB. Maybe better to show the left hand in stead of the right hand. Maybe… ???

i was thinking the same thing and figured out that if you tune a full step up you will be in the right tuning. so basically your low e string would be an f#, your a string is now b etc.

hi, thanks for the lessons, if I have a Macintosh computer, will the lessons play when I purchase a single song?
thanks.
capo on 2nd fret? did blind blake play with a capo? ..or alternate tuning? any confirmation would be helpful.
you should set up your cool advertisement boxes so they don’t block the tablature.
