  1. You can change being a drunk. Go to treatment. After you’re detoxed, start learning about the progressive nature of addiction, start learning about how addiction tricks the brain into thinking more poison is beneficial.

    From day one of being sober, write down what is helping you stay sober. Revise the list continually, but don’t ever throw it away. There will be a time in your recovery when you feel "cured," and that is the time to read your help-list because that is the time of danger.
