  1. Nice National my friend, my buddy did the body frame and cone work on your guitar 😉

  2. grr a won tune to a b im using a tuner to try and get the right pitch

  3. Exactly, just tune low to high DADF#AD and capo for the E.
    Cheers

  4. great vids.
It’s my sorrow that I cant tune to open E.
I use d adrio light acoustic strings.

Can I use open D tuning and then use a capo on 2nd fret to get the open E?

  5. I see what you’re saying, but for me it’s easy to tune to the open strings. I find it works better and is faster.

  6. How about tuning open E the easy way by simply remembering 7-5-4-3-5, then going back to standard tuning with 5-5-5-4-5. Just thoring it out there. Long time open E/D player representing.

  7. That was great I play slide too and that was an excellent lesson. Beautiful resonator guitar too. Mine sucks. You can also tune to D and put a capo on the 2nd fret if you really want the E.

  8. Strings might break if you don’t stretch them first… just tune to open D and you’ll have no problems.

  9. No, I have never raised my strings, no matter what tuning I use, and I play in three or four regularly. If you need to raise strings then your action is too low, and you just need to work on intonation….. Time is better then shortcuts

  10. I read not just a minute ago that when playing in open E 3 strings need to be raised. Is that true? and which ones?

  11. that’s pretty heavy,
you should tune your E string down one step to D, then tune all the others accordingly.
That way you’ll be in open D and the string tension will be less on the neck, and the strings might not snap when tuning them

  12. Yes, that’s right. It will sound one octave higher, the string that’s being tuned up. If you had an electronic tuner both notes would be E, one would just sound higher.

  13. is that the tuning of robert johnson and can you write it down witch note you tunning for open A
