For Free Tabs visit www.adamrafferty.com Hi Gang, Heres the first original fingerstyle composition I wrote – the year was 2006. I had just gotten my first Taylor 314 (shown in my early videos) and I strummed an open D chord (Dropped D) with an open E string and my heart exploded with inspiration! What a great feeling it was…and is! I new a tune was being born – and a new adventure in life was underway. I felt "home" again playing a steel string guitar after years of playing electric. The inspiration for "Jills Song " came with the D Major section first. I later "reverse engineered" the D minor "verse" which is pretty much an exact parallel of the D major section. This song is on the "Gratitude" CD but I never played it live after recording it. It went "hidden". Every time someone popped in the CD in the car, I felt there was a little piece on my soul in this song. Better said – the tune feels like one of my precious "babies". I figured it was time to dust it off and start putting it back into the mix. It was originally recorded with a flatpick…I love that metallic sound I originally had – but somehow fingers on the right hand feel better at this time. I still need to practice this one, big time – it looks easy, but it aint! Making the melody sing and getting a strong tone out of the guitar are the challenge….well, aret they always? Enjoy! Adam PS – Tuning is Dropped D.

  14. Beautiful, Adam. I particularly love the interplay between major and minor, a device I’ve used a few times in my own compositions. Thanks for the new vid after what seems like a long spell (I know: you were out touring).
