I seem to spend my time running around in my busyness trying to do things, which are oh so important, and probably going a tiny bit nuts in the process. Little pauses are essential and it is my New Year resolution to take a few more moments of mindfulness along the way. In 2013, Im just going to sit down and stop every so often. The lyrics are written out below: Clock rings out at the break of day. Kicks me awake from where I lay. Caffeine gets my neurons firing. Frenzied thoughts run through my wiring. Glimpse the sun, As I walk. Still my mind. Quells its talk. Get to work and battle begins. Its a fight I never can win. Flurry and worry fill my mind. Makes it hard to be calm and kind. Brief respite. Moments pause. Can just see. My minds flaws. Rush back home for my evening meal. Thoughts continue to twist and wheel. TV and web make my head spin. It all makes an infernal din. Stop and it. Concentrate. Watch each thought. Meditate. Take a step Everyday. To progress On my way. Played on a Tanglewood electro-acoustic guitar tuned to open d with a Dunlop Mudslide, a Hohner harmonica in c played cross harp, container of barley and jar of screws for rhythm and a Tibetan singing bowl for the finale. All recorded using a Blue Snowball usb mic and Audacity. Seemed very chilly, so huge fluffy slippers, woolly hat, lots of tea and large slices of cake were essential.

  1. Loved it Phil! Love that slide & harmonica too ….. and of course the Tibetan singing bowl ….. we don’t hear enough of that fine instrument in music!!!! So you are extending the comfort factor too …. not just slippers these days …… wel it seems to be doing the trick! Happy New Year, Ray
