They’re actuall Dimarzio’s. A Virtual PAF in the bridge and a Bluesbucker in the neck position.

What kind of pickups are in that ESP? I know it’s all in the fingers, but that is some righteous tone. Since they’re not EMG’s, I’m guessing they’re Seymour Duncans…. Maybe the JB/59 or JB/Jazz set (since it’s an ESP and all).
In my Les Paul copy, I have Duncan Seth Lovers (Great copy though), and I’m very-happy with my guitar-tone at the moment. That said, I’m still considering trying an alnico V humbucker in the neck-position – Maybe a ’59 or similar. The bridge p/u stays. It’s perfect.

This is the kind of slide-tone I’m going for…. And it really IS all in the fingers. You can’t be afraid to push that slide nice and hard against the neck, especially on the wound strings. And you need that complete-connection between your right and left hands. Your timing has to be solid, since good slide-guitar involves a lot of string-muting and that sort of thing, And you have to really push yourself (especially if you want to play like this guy).
I wear the slide on my 2nd finger too.

just knowing your music. Big Sky is a great album, it’s hard to find lead guitarist not only technically good, but conceptually good (even if i don’t like jazz, pentatonic senseless rock is boring!) and with use of dynamics. Also, getting the slide away from its dirty blues common use. Keep rocking! You should come to southamerica, specificly to chile, would be nice to watch more great guitarist alive (recently scott henderson came and jeff beck is coming this week).

What are you using as a slide? I wouldn’t bother asking if you weren’t at the top of my list…
