The small bodied but HUGE sounding singlecone reso from Republic guitars, Texas!! Ive got some clips here showing it in open tunings, heres a clip that shows how nice this guitar works in standard tuning.. The cutaway is useful and as always, it takes a while to get used to the shorter scale. But after 5 minutes of playing I dont even think of it.. Here I have 0.10-0.46 strings and it really works well, so easy to play. The sound is often better on biscuit resos with lighter string gauges.. The action is great, but for open tunings and bottleneck style I go for much heavier strings!! Ive played this one since November now and I really love this guitar! Now its recorded on a few songs on my coming CD, this album containing only my own songs is due for release in MarchApril!!!
The action was perfect! And nothing strange about the various open chords, just Vestapol and Spanish in open A,C,D,G,E,F…
very hard string tension and open peculiar tuning…the action was perfect for slide when you buyed it?
Aha.. Well I’ve tuned this one to Open: A,C,D,G,E,F.. Also standard like here in this clip.
Mostly open tunings as mentioned, often with 0.15 – 0.58 nickel strings.
I ask about your preferred open tuning that you use with this dobro john..
Standard - E (or nearby)
tuning in ??
This is 12Radius Johns up there playing . but i have a hwy.61 go with the 25scale i wish i did. ask John also he da man of steel body guitars. good luck man.

Thanks they feel heavy. I got some .12-53 here I might try 1st
then maybe .10-52. I like how yours plays for you.
I think they come with 0.13-0.56, here I have 0.10-0.52!!
what gauge strings do you like on that guitar?
and do you know what they come with? thanks. love your stuff.
A tricone is the ultimate slideguitar, if I had to pick just one, that would be it! But it’s cool to have different models.. 🙂
Okay, after listening, I ordered this guitar!!! I am 67 years old and have wanted a reso-phonic for over 25 years. I can’t wait. This is like getting a Harley!
May I recommend the book ‘A Pop Revolution, the transatlantic music scene, 1965 to 1969’ by the invisible man
I just read an article about it, it would cost 830€ in Germany (about 1200 US$). Do you think it would be worth it?
would have any tabs from this jam??
Oh man, play now!! 🙂
And thanks a lot, I appreciate your kind comments!!!!!!
Amazing playing on a beautiful guitar. Guys like you are why I haven’t played in a while LOL
Would this be steel bodied in this video? Looks like a brushed nickel like finish. I didn’t see this option on the Republic catalogue. thanks
Cool!! It’ll work fine for fingerstyle playing as well..!!
sorry, i just saw the answer to my string-gauge question in your blurb. yeah, i thought this sounded like lighter gauges, meaning that in a good way. very cool indeed.
hi….asking strictly for fingerstyle (standard, drop d, etc)—will .12s sound good? or do you have to string heavier—are you using .12s here, or .13s….or? thanks….and sounds really nice!
THANKS, and great choice!!!
