It depends on where you are coming from. In some countries and other locations, Do is indeed C. This is called "fixed" Do. In other locations, such as most of the US and some parts of Europe, Do is the first note sounded in the Ionian scale, no matter what note that scale begins on. So, for me, the D in the scale of D is its Do. Hope that is not confusing. Cheer and thanks for the good question.

The D is played open, but sometimes melody notes are played on single strings that might be fretted at the same time, for example the fifth fret on the 1st string, and then the sixth fret on the same string. Return to the fifth fret and then slide down and play the whole chord open, so that the 2nd string sound a melody note. Then slide the whole chord up to the fourth fret, etc. Play around with it, and you will hear how it works. Cheers.

Thanks for the nice words. You can find my earlier recording of it on iTunes or Amazon, I believe. The title there is "One Guitar." Cheers.

What a wonderful tune!!!!
It is a love song rising above many already beautiful love songs… don’t mind me practicing and sing it to my girlfriend, only because I love her very much and she is so deserving of a beautiful song such as this one….this song is that inspiring!!! 🙂
In a mean time I shall not forget to check it out.
Well done!!
