that’s a shame
Absolutely hate the rosewood neck strats…
The worst thing not to respect the harmony, the best thing, to know were you´re going in mind and soul!
At the beginning BB is probably thinking this kids such a suck up hahaha 😀
Nobody criticize John Mayer, great modern blues guitarist, has had a great career, let the man do what he does best
they took us to the house of blues in middle school when i lived in LA, I wont forget that day when i found true sweet love, I fell in love with the blues..
Complex? Inovative? Authentic?
such a good vibe
Man that BB King tone… So thick.
I wasn’t specifying a century since their ill treatment wasn’t confined to a single time or location for that matter. I actually had their treatment in their own country at the hands of the English more in mind than their treatment in the U.S although they were also slaves in the latter.
Yes i understand that, but these Africans where most likely to be bribed of some sort by the whites, or they did it out of sheer terror. Yes the Africans are to blame too but we dont actually know what made them sell their own kind to the whites. Maybe they didnt want to be taken as a slave themselves, "kill or be killed" (i know this isnt about killing but you know what i mean by the quote, you either save yourself or you dont).
im not sure actually, i agree with you that he does sound quite jumpy at times. I find that hes trying to cram all of his solo ideas in one..instead of spreading them out a bit so the solo flows better and sounds smoother. In my opinion that sounds alot nicer to listen to as a listener.
"I know, there was slavery in alot of countries. But i dont recall them shoving them on boats cramped with a load of others, hardly being fed, sleeping in their own waste, were whipped by the whites if they were working too slow."
Most of these things (minus the specific use of ships) were quite common in the way the Irish were treated for centuries.
One thing to remember is that Africans themselves actually often sold the lowest members of their societies to whites, I believe they sold about 16 million to Portugal alone. And whites often are persecuted in areas like Zimbabwe. I’m not necessarily disputing your comment in general though.
Do you get the feeling Mayer was a bit nervous as well? I think it kind of comes out in his phrasing, it sounds jumpy, too rapidly phrased and he doesn’t know when to pull back . I know that’s what happens to me if I get nervous in a 12 bar blues jam.
a jam isnt a comepetition … so a man who loves the blues WITH the blues man himself.
Check out my channel if you want to hear some good blues covers
i will check them out, thanks
i don’t especially like what Mayer plays here. Check out his short-but-sweet guitar solos in the songs "something like olivia" and "queen of california". That’s more like what you’re talking about. I agree that in this particular soundbite of Mayer he’s trying to show off his techinicality
check out lazer lloyd !! amazing
