Heres some improvisation over a home made midi track of this (slightly doctored) famous chord progression. In dropped D tuning, playing through a DigiTech RP100 using a heavy brass slide. The trick is to be able to see the whole fretboard as the chord, which is what my book package PlaneTalk teaches.     Those are Seymour Duncan ‘stacks’ I think they’re called. They’re humbucking, bought them about 30 years ago.

    First off, this is wonderful playing – hats off to you, seriously.

    Secondly, what are those pickups? I absolutely love your tone here, although I get that the dropped tuning, the slide and your playing fingerstyle have as much to do with it as the pups do. I’m on the verge of buying my first Strat, but am planning to dump the stock Texas Specials (the whole SRV vibe doesn’t do a lot for me).
