Rolling Stones: "Sympathy For The Devil," Beggars Banquet Studio Sessions, Olympic Sound Studios, London, 1968. The working title of the song was "The Devil Is My Name," In the film, the group goes through several iterations of the song, from almost a bluesy, folky ballad (similar to "Jigsaw Puzzle") to the freaked-out samba it ultimately became. During the sessions the words were changed from "who killed Kennedy?" to "who killed the Kennedys?" after the assassination of Robert Kennedy. It was Richards who came up with the songs Samba arrangement, playing both bass and lead guitar. The druggy dissolution of Brian Jones is seen unvarnished in the film, his usefulness in the studio coming to an end (he is not heard on the finished track). Marianne faithful, Anita Pallenberg, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts, producer Jimmy Miller, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards are seen recording back up vocals but the "Whoo Whoo" backing vocals were overdubbed in Los Angeles by producer Jimmy Miller, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards alone.

  1. Yeah, definitely watch the Rock’n Roll Circus then, it’s full of close-ups on this Les Paul. Beautiful guitar, and the custom paint job looks really cool.

  2. they’re trying to make a cover of the ending of Hey Jude

  3. kids trying to make something good hahahha, they suck

  4. Thanks, I was referring to the one at 6:48

  5. thank you what did I say ??? msg me.

  6. Didn’t remove Taylor. He chose to quit on his own. Keith may try to take alot of credit he was not due but listen to Let It Bleed and tell me the man isn’t the heart and soul of the Stones. Brian was a huge part of the band in the early years and was a fabulous musician but when Jagger and Richards started writing the songs it spelled the end for Brian. Brian and Mick Taylor could not keep up the lifestyle that Keith lived.

  7. Yeah really good stuff, glad you like it.

  8. Hi ! I got the DVD of "One plus one" from Godart, about the Rolling Stones, and in fact, "One plus one" is the way they had started to play this song, exactly the same video than this one. When you hear how they were playing at the beginning of the DVD, and after you listen to the version we all know, they had changed of tempo, and had added percussions(for me, the song was on the "right way" only after they had added percussions). I didn’t know who was singing the "Whooo, whoo". A cool video !

  9. I finished Keith’s Book on holiday last year, my head was like a big sponge, taking in all that information, really engrossing. Woo Woo, ha ha ha

  10. Brian was dating Anita Pallenberg who left him for the much less violent Keith nt long before this.

  11. Anita Palenberg had been Brian’s girl first, but she dumped him for Keith

  12. I just read in Keith’s "Life" that Charlie did the Woo-woos…

  13. I’ll go along with that, Brian was a founder member with Stu but was no longer running the band. Mate you’ve done it again, wtf GF?

  14. Well it was ‘Brian’s band’ at first, and he was the center of attention. but Mick and Keith’s songwriting became the center of the band as time went on. Brain was never much of a songwriter, or so the story goes. I think that Brain’s GF also left him and went with Keith. He growing jealousy of them was one of the reasons he started to fade. But don’t quote me on that.

  15. Can you explain the "jealousy", I’ve not heard term used with Brian’s troubles.

  16. yeah, sad story. but thats what too much drugs and jealousy do. RIP Brain

  17. Brian was in the bad books with Jagger and Richards.

  18. they just kinda stick Brian in the corner, with baffles around him
